John Frank Toney
A proud member of Eskasoni First Nation, John Frank has played both the sport of Fastball, as he was a member of the Eskasoni Mets who won 5 straight provincial Championships and a fine showing at the National Championships.
It is the sport of Hockey where John Frank has displayed his natural skills and talent. After his days of playing with Cape Breton Major U18, he played in the MJAHL Jr. A league with Dartmouth.
Upon completion of his Junior career he went on to play for many years with Port Hood Bees in NS Senior AAA, and then on to the West Island Senior Hockey League for many years. He also led Eskasoni Eagles teams in Midget, Junior, and Senior with countless Tournament Championships. The Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Sport Hall of Fame is proud to Induct John Frank Toney in the Athlete Category.
