Tex Marshall

There is tremendous potential among Mi’kmaw Youth. However potential remains dormant without opportunities.

Tex Marshall has played a Pivotal Role in creating and developing a Mi’kmaw Sport Delivery System in Nova Scotia. He has also played a major role in Indigenous Sport Development throughout Canada and North America over the past 25 years. He coordinated his first Fastball Tournament in his home community of Eskasoni at the age of 16. He Co-Founded the Mi’kmaw Sport Council of Nova Scotia, was a Founding Member of the National Aboriginal Sport Circle, and was also one of the Founders of the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship. Tex coached Minor Hockey in his community for over 10 years. He established the Eskasoni High School Varsity Hockey Team and Program, while also being Head Coach & General Manager. He Co-Founded the NS Native Senior Men’s Fastball Association, and served 2 Terms as Vice- President and 1 Term as President. He is also Founding Member of the Aboriginal Sport Circle of Canada, Served 1 Term as Treasurer, 2 Terms as Vice-President, 3 Terms as National Chairperson (President), while also serving as Board Member for over 20 years. Tex led the Charge for the Bid for NAIG 2020, and currently President of Kjipuktuk NAIG 2020 Host Society.
