Barry Martin

Barry Martin is from Millbrook First Nation, for over 6 decades he has been involved in sport not only as an athlete but also a coach and a builder for not only the community but also the Nation.

He has been a long-time organizer of annual softball and hockey tournaments in Millbrook. He co-founded the Annual Millbrook Peewee Hockey Championships that ran between 1985-1990.

Barry focused on the development of younger players from Millbrook and he helped coaching these youths for many years.

Barry was involved in organizing the Annual Millbrook Softball Tournament that began the year after the 1982 Summer Games, where he was instrumental in keeping things on-track as some games played through the night and is still talked about today.

Barry for many decades was instrumental in developing youth in sports in Millbrook and has recently stepped from coaching and leading.

Today he now enjoys watching his grandchildren play in sports but also enjoys the opportunity to play alongside his children and grandchildren, especially during their annual Father’s Day outing!
